Don’t Miss the Santa Fe Opera in 2023

A stunning opera singer performing at venues like the Santa Fe Opera

There are a few beloved outdoor opera venues worldwide, including the notable Sydney Opera House in Australia. Just as beautiful and mesmerizing, however, is the stunning Santa Fe Opera venue, located just north of our Santa Fe Bed and Breakfast, surrounded by the breathtaking high deserts of northern New Mexico. The spectacular nature of this magnificent venue simply adds to the already thrilling experience of watching these talented performers.

The Santa Fe Opera season runs every summer, from late June through August, and includes a variety of world-class performances in this one unique venue. Tickets for the season are currently on sale and expected to sell out, just like they have in previous seasons. Whether you attend one performance or an entire season’s worth, there’s no better place to stay than our Santa Fe Bed and Breakfast

The Interior Of The Santa Fe Opera Venue

A Musical Treat at the Santa Fe Opera

Like all seasons before it, the 2023 season of the Santa Fe Opera promises to be nothing short of splendid. Though we say the same thing year after year, there’s always something about each season that is outstanding in our minds – and it goes far beyond the breathtaking northern New Mexico and being under the starry desert skies. There’s a reason major publications have so highly regarded this venue, and also why in 2022, the International Opera Awards awarded it the 2022 Festival of the Year.

This year, the Santa Fe Opera will kick off the season on June 30 with its first performance of Tosca, a lovers’ battle between torture, murder, and suicide. This performance will be at the Santa Fe Opera until August 26. A day later, the opera’s performance of The Flying Dutchman will open, running through August 25. Over this nearly two-month run, you’ll have the chance to learn this condemned sailor’s fate as he seeks love and redemption.

In mid-July, a performance of Pelléas et Mélisande will open and run through August 18, followed by Rusalka on July 22, which will run through August 22. The former features a classic tale of forbidden love and desire, while the latter is a classic tale of risking everything for the sake of love – and finding out whether or not it’s worth it. The final two performances of this year’s Santa Fe Opera include Orfeo from July 29 – August 24, featuring two lover’s harrowing journey back from the underworld and the sacrifices they must make to get there, and the Apprentice Scenes, featuring the next generation of stars at the Santa Fe Opera, August 13 & 20

We are very excited about what this season of the Santa Fe Opera holds for us this year. But the show is just part of the legendary experience. Before the performers take the stage, don’t miss your chance to enjoy a series of pre-performance talks and a delicious dinner in one of the Santa Fe Opera’s famed preview dinners. Of course, you’re always welcome to picnic and tailgate more casually at the Santa Fe Opera.

Many guests often ask us about the Santa Fe Opera dress code, which is just as casual as you’d expect in the high deserts of northern New Mexico. From jeans and cowboy boots to elegant dresses and tuxedos, you can expect to see it all at the Santa Fe Opera. Dress in whatever style feels best for you, but don’t forget your layers for the moment the desert sun sinks below the horizon. Grab tickets to this year’s unforgettable season of the Santa Fe Opera today!
