3 Reasons to Visit the Santa Fe Ski Basin
1. There’s Skiing for Every Experience Level
While you might not think of Santa Fe as a skiing destination, think again. Most hardcore skiing enthusiasts head north of the City Different to Taos and Southern Colorado, but our mountain oasis is a hidden gem. The Santa Fe Ski Basin has everything and more for experienced downhill skiers. With well over fifty slopes, including more than two dozen black diamonds, split between the upper and lower mountains, you’ll find there is something for everyone in the Sangre de Cristo Mountains.
Ski Santa Fe lift tickets begin at $40 for beginners and work their way up to $300 for a four-day pass. They also offer a variety of discounts, especially for groups. Check out their ski basin trail map for a complete look at mountain setup as well as openings and closings throughout the season.
The Santa Fe Ski Basin is typically open from the end of November through the beginning of April, depending on the weather and temperatures. Check their website for changing hours of operation throughout the season.
2. The Santa Fe Ski Basin has More Than Just Slopes
While the Santa Fe Ski Basin is a skiers paradise, snowboarders can also tear up the slopes! In addition to the extensive collection of runs here, you can also enjoy a terrain park. “The Bone Yard,” as they call it, features eight unique challenges that are appropriate for visitors with beginner and intermediate skill sets. Skiers can also tackle this fun and exciting added dimension to Santa Fe’s winter wonderland. The Ski Santa Fe Terrain Park is open from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
3. You’re Close to the Heart of Santa Fe
One of the best incentives to choose the Santa Fe Ski Basin is its proximity to the heart of town. It’s only a 40 to 45-minute drive from our Inn, where you can easily walk to and from the best restaurants, shops, museums, and historical sites in the area. There’s no need to drive hours away to experience the best skiing in New Mexico, especially when you stay at El Farolito Inn!
